Wheels for Meals: West Fest 2011
The quaint town of Fort Collins was invaded on the 28th of August by none other than Audis, Porsches and Lamborghinis, along side a few lost Ferraris and one Volvo. Ed Carroll Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen, opened their doors for the 25th annual Westfest Concours and Car show, inviting everyone with a passion for cars to join. Every year, the dealership hosts this amazing event, which has grown into one of the most significant car shows Fort Collins and Northern Colorado offers.
Westfest is not just your average car meet; they raise thousands of dollars for Meals on Wheels. From 1960’s Porsches to Audi R8s, Westfest included the lot. One of the most beautiful cars on display was Ed Carroll’s personal Porsche that stood out from its shear originality. Every corner of the dealership was filled with cars on display, creating an inviting atmosphere where every generation could join in on conversation about the cars. Serving snow cones and listening to the live band only further added to the already entertaining event.
Out of the vast number of cars a few shined brighter above the rest. The first car that drew one of the biggest crowds was the very tastefully crafted silver RS4. Not only was this Audi in immaculate condition but, it came equipped with a supercharger along with an amazing sound system positioned in the trunk. Next on the list of stunning cars at Westfest was the original Volkswagen bug. Kept in original paint this gorgeous bug has been a daily driver and appreciated to its fullest. Finally bringing up the end of the list were two striking R8s, one, silver and the other a sparkling blue.
Exotics were not the only highlight of the show. A few owners proudly displayed their Volkswagen buses, offering younger generations a look into the past and the quality of Volkswagen. Continuing on with older generations, the line up of Porsches included everything from rusted 1960’s convertibles to new turbos. The amount of Porsches offered the perfect opportunity for Ed Carroll to show off his selection of amazing Porsches for sale, including a white 911 Carrera S, that collected a group of enthusiasts. Westfest catered to everyone from the exotics to the enthusiast-oriented cars.
Along with the owners a few local clubs and shops helped host Westfest. Rocky Mountain 356 Club, Audi Club Rocky Mountain Chapter and the VW Chapter were just a few clubs that helped judge and put together an amazing event. These clubs provided the show with an enthusiast environment that many attendees could relate with. These clubs along with the participants brought out beautiful cars that brightened Fort Collins for a day.
The laid-back atmosphere, live music and pleasant crowd created a one of a kind event that appeals to all generations and all car enthusiasts. Ed Carroll and Westfest offer a refresher from your average car show and should not be missed.
